The Cross of Christ Jesus was for the destruction of sinful self.
Everything that came into man when Adam sinned was destroyed in the body of the flesh of Jesus.
Romans 8:1 THEREFORE, [there is] now no condemnation (no adjudging guilty of wrong) for those who are in Christ Jesus, who live [and] walk not after the dictates of the flesh, but after the dictates of the Spirit.
2 For the law of the Spirit of life [Hallelujah] that very Spirit of life [which is] in Christ Jesus [the law of our new being] has freed me from [vicious cycle] the law of sin and of death.
When we believe with all of our hearts that what Christ Jesus done on the cross, we will enter in that very victory.
Colossians 2:14-15 Having cancelled and blotted out and wiped away the handwriting of the note (bond) with its legal decrees and demands which was in force and stood against us (hostile to us). This [note with its regulations, decrees, and demands] He set aside and cleared completely out of our way by nailing it to [His] cross.
15. [God] disarmed the principalities and powers that were ranged against us and made a bold display and public example of them, in triumphing over them in Him and in it [the cross].
You see God condemned sin in the flesh. That is why Jesus had to have a body so God Almighty could condemn sin in that body on the tree. Everything that came into man was condemned in that body on the cross.
Romans 8:3 For God has done what the Law could not do, [its power] being weakened by the flesh the entire nature of man without the Holy Spirit]. Sending His own Son in the guise of sinful flesh and as an offering for sin, [God] condemned sin in the flesh subdued, overcame, deprived it of its power over all who accept that sacrifice], of what Christ done on the cross.
So that is why we can safely say that all who accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior has died in Christ. The death on the cross was for the destruction of that old satanic nature. Romans 6:6 Our old self was nailed to the cross with Christ that our body of sin might be made ineffective and inactive for evil, that we might no longer be slaves of sin. Hallelujah!!!
Romans 6:7 For when a man dies, he is freed (loosed, delivered) from [the power of] sin [among men].
Not only do we enter into the death of Christ as our very own death but we enter into his very resurrection life. the Spirit of Holiness went into that dark gloomy grave and shook the death spirit right out of that body and brought forth life and we accept Jesus as God’s Christ his very anointed One we by the Spirit of holiness arise out of the death into the very life of Christ to rule in that position in the heavenly realm.
We are more than conquerors we rest in the conquering One in all that he has done and when he said IT IS FINISHED he was saying It is completed I’ve sons all that you sent me to do and now I can bring many sons into glory. Yes Jesus Christ tasted death for all, now it is up to us to accept that very Sacrifice as ours and celebrate the cross and enter into his abundant life. Victory of his resurrection, fellowship of his suffering [which is not my will but your will be done] then being conformed to his death
Philippians 3:10 [For my determined purpose is] that I may know Him [that I may progressively become more deeply and intimately acquainted with Him, perceiving and recognizing and understanding the wonders of His Person more strongly and more clearly], and that I may in that same way come to know the power out flowing from His resurrection which it exerts over believers], and that I may so share His sufferings as to be continually transformed [in spirit into His likeness even] to His death, [in the hope]
11. That if possible I may attain [to the spiritual and moral] resurrection [that lifts me] out from among the dead [even while in the body].
12 Not that I have now attained [this ideal], or have already been made perfect, but I press on to lay hold of (grasp) and make my own, that for which Christ Jesus (the Messiah) has laid hold of me and made me His own. 13 I do not consider, brethren, that I have captured and made it my own [yet]; but one thing I do [it is my one aspiration]: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, 14. I press on toward the goal to win the [supreme and heavenly] prize to which God in Christ Jesus is calling us upward.
When we come to the knowledge of this very fact the shout of victory will be heard in a Christian’s life.
That is why Revelation 1:17 b - 18 says “Do not be afraid! I am the First and the Last,
Verse 18 And the Ever-living One [I am living in the eternity of the eternities]. I died, but see, I am alive forevermore; and I possess the keys of death and Hades (the realm of the dead).
That is why Jesus Christ could say in Matthew 28:18 Jesus approached and, breaking the silence, said to them, “All authority (all power of rule) in heaven and on earth has been given to Me, now you go”.
